Have I seen a cab?
They ask, hoping I had not
I didn’t notice
They waved to me as they left
Strangers in an unseen cab

He battles traffic
Motorcycle Daredevils
They’re all maniacs
To ride two wheeled crafts of doom
How I love those mad machines

Insolent machine
How I long to give you life
Longings not enough
So, I wrench, and thump, and swear
And still you deny my love

I have a longstanding affinity for machines, including those of the two wheel variety, some of which turn into more trouble than they are worth. This piece is for one of those and anyone that knows the feeling of both wanting something to work and at the same time wanting to hit it with a really big hammer. Sometimes our relationships with our machines are like our human relationships, capable of evoking both love and hate at the same time.
Then again, remember kids, love your machine, but don’t LOVE your machine
