To be true

My “kind”

He said

That he knew

That I was

A liar

A thief

A hooligan

Of the most

Detestable sort

But,

He said

He understood

That it was

Just my genes

My nature

My inferior

Blood

He never

Offered a solution

Only the

Statements of fact

And all I did

Was listen

Because that

Is what

A boy does

When an adult

Tells him

All the things

He knows

To be

True
