Poem - Yellow Boy

Sing to me

Ancient songs

Your voice

The sound of drums

Of our ancestors

Of our past

A battle song

Lifts my heart

As I lift

Your lever

Chambering your spirit

And I

Tense my finger

Releasing your soul

We are brothers

In fire

Red warrior

And Yellow Boy

Tanka - Another for Jules Verne

The wreck settles deep

As iron beast slips away

Leaving only ghosts

A graveyard on ocean floor

A testament to madness

Haiku - My first…

Rainy day simple

A black crow walks by

I, wondering why, still here

-1998 Zero Anon  - This is the fist haiku I wrote as an adult.  (I’m sure we must have written them in school sometime.)  Though I did not use the 5-7-5 syllable structure, I did manage to get 17 syllables on 3 lines.  This poetic form began my slow return to the world of poetry.  It really is the little things, isn’t it?
