Looking to Heaven
Yet I, standing still earth bound
Pray for redemption

Written during a local Edible Book Tea. These are really fun events, centered around the creation of book related edible art, which is then consumed at the tea. My past favorites include “War in Peas”, complete with a miniature battlefield sprinkled with peas, and “Tequila Mockingbird”, go figure. At any rate, I recommend trying to attend one some time, or better yet, plan your own. Just remember to send me an invite. Tequila Mockingbird, yeah…

Who says the walking dead can’t party down? Maybe they are just looking for a night on the town…

Rainy day simple
A black crow walks by
I, wondering why, still here
-1998 Zero Anon - This is the fist haiku I wrote as an adult. (I’m sure we must have written them in school sometime.) Though I did not use the 5-7-5 syllable structure, I did manage to get 17 syllables on 3 lines. This poetic form began my slow return to the world of poetry. It really is the little things, isn’t it?

Let’s throw mad parties
Steal masks from the five and dime
Just because we can
Climb up, down the fire escape
Love each other in the end
Moonlight drifts through black
Like a river among stones
The past, washed away
You can be Audrey
I’ll be George, we’ll play the parts
Like an old movie
Doing things we’ve never done
End it kissing in the rain
